African Folktales at the Internet Archive: Old Books, New Books

I'm working on the proofreading and indexing of A Reader's Guide to African Folktales at the Internet Archive, and I thought it might be useful to share this index item: it is a list of all the books mentioned in the bibliography, arranged in publication order from oldest to newest, with the link going to the Internet Archive edition of the book. I've also provided a list by author names.

The list arranged by year of publication shows just why Controlled Digital Lending is so important. If the Internet Archive were only allowed to lend public domain materials, that would reduce this list from 363 items to 59. All the items published more recently than 1926 would no longer be available. In other words, without Controlled Digital Lending the reading public would be deprived of over 300 important resources for the study of African folklore, with only works from the colonial era available online.

Which means: WE NEED CONTROLLED DIGITAL LENDING.

Meanwhile, my goal is to have the book completed by March 30, and I'll update this blog post when it's ready. In the interim, you can see the draft as it takes shape.
