African Diaspora at Internet Archive: The Mermaid's Twin Sister

I thought I would switch to Caribbean stories this week, so I thought I would start with The Mermaid's Twin Sister: More Stories from Trinidad by Lynn Joseph.

Lynn Joseph was born in Trinidad and grew up there; she later relocated to the United States and is now a lawyer in New York City; you can find out more at Wikipedia. As you can guess from the title, this book is a follow-up to an earlier book, A Wave in Her Pocket: Stories from Trinidad, but that one is not at the Internet Archive. Luckily this one is available!

You'll find six stories here — Keeping the Duennes Away ~ The Mermaid's Twin Sister ~ La Diablesse ~ Colin's Island ~ Tantie's Callaloo Fete ~ The Obeah Woman's Birthday Present — and the illustrations are by Donna Perrone.

So, take a visit to the island of Trinidad with the magic of stories in this book, just a click away at the Internet Archive.
