African Diaspora at Internet Archive: Honey, Hush!

After writing about Alan Dundes' Laughing Barrel book in yesterday's post, I thought I would share another anthology of humor: Honey, Hush! An Anthology of African American Women's Humor, edited by Daryl Cumber Dance.

This marvelous book, over 700 pages long, contains all sorts of humorous writing from an incredible range of African American women writers. In addition to all the great literary works, there is also a lot of folkloric material too, labeled "Folk" in the table of contents, along with contemporary urban folklore in the form of "mimeographed items" without an author (in the world before email and memes).

You might also remember Daryl Cumber Dance from earlier books I had written about in this blog! Here they are:

All these marvelous books by Professor Dance are just a click away at the Internet Archive, thanks to Controlled Digital Lending.
