African Diaspora at Internet Archive: Caribbean Stories

I'm back after my little break (the past week has just been so busy! good busy, but busy!)... and it's time to start Week 20 of African Diaspora stories at the Internet Archive. This will be a week for Caribbean stories, starting with these three anthologies.

First is Traditional Tales from the Caribbean by Vic Parker.

The book contains 7 stories, with illustrations by Christopher Corr. This illustration shows Anansi riding Tiger, in the popular trickster-makes-dupe-his-riding-horse type of story which is told about Spider, Rabbit and other African trickster figures.

Next up is Caribbean Stories by Robert Hull.

The book contains 8 stories, with illustrations are by Collin Williams and Joanne Makin. This is the illustration for the story of the man who married a heron-woman:

And the final book for today is World Myths and Legends: The Caribbean by Flora Floss.

The book contains 17 stories from across the Caribbean, including indigenous stories too! The illustrations are by Mary Beth Gaitskill. Here's her rendering of Anansi riding Tiger:

So, enjoy all the books: many wonderful stories await you, all just a click away at the Internet Archive.
