Starting off a new week, I wanted to share a fun brer Rabbit book which is full of peanuts: Brer Rabbit and the Goober Patch by Virginia Schomp.
The illustrations are by Jess Yeomans. Rabbit manages to steal the peanuts from Fox:
And he also manages to trick Bear in a take-my-place episode:
And if you're wondering about that word "goober" meaning "peanut," that is a Gullah word, which comes from the Kongo word nguba.
Virginia Schomp is a prolific children's book author, and she also wrote a book with 7 traditional African tales: The Ancient Africans.
