African Diaspora at Internet Archive: Borgenicht and Rees

I thought I'd follow up on yesterday's story of the Goober Patch with another Brer Rabbit book, so here it is: The Classic Tales of Brer Rabbit by David Borgenicht. It features seven stories, one of which is that same story of the goober patch!

The illustrations are by Dan Daily, and they are a lot of fun. Here's his version of Brer Bear in the goober patch story, with Brer Rabbit and Brer Fox looking on:

And here's his illustration of the story about the race between Brer Rabbit and Brer Turtle (which is very different from the old Aesop's fable of the tortoise and the hare!):

Then I also wanted to mention two books by Ennis Rees: Brer Rabbit and His Tricks and More of Brer Rabbit's Tricks. You can read more about Ennis Rees at Wikipedia.

Each book contains three stories, and the illustrations are by ............... EDWARD GOREY! (More about Edward Gorey.) Here's his version of Brer Rabbit and the Tar Baby:

And here you can see Brer Rabbit tangling with Brer Fox once again:

So, as always, Brer Rabbit goodness abounds, and these illustrated books are just a click away at the Internet Archive!
