African Folktales at Internet Archive: Week 19

Here's the round-up for Week 19, which featured stories from southern Africa. I'm not sure what the theme will be for next week, although it might be time to do another week of anthologies that bring together stories from different regions. Anyway, I'll figure that out and be back tomorrow with a new/old book; for now, here's this week's round-up and you can access the round-ups from previous months with these links: May - June - July - August - September

Happy weekend, everybody!

African Folktales at Internet Archive: Week 18

The weeks are really flying: this is the round-up for Week 18 already! The focus this past week was stories from eastern Africa. I haven't decided on the focus for next week; maybe back to southern Africa? I'll figure that out tomorrow!

I also want to add that I had a fantastic time meeting with some people from Internet Archive on Friday: getting to learn more about some of the behind-the-scenes was really great (details here), and something new that I learned was the important role that Better World Books has played in the story of the controlled digital lending project; you can find out more about Better World Books here.

So, if you are shopping for used books, do shop from them directly instead of going through Amazon so that your money will be supporting their work instead of going to Amazon; here's a link to their website: Better World Books. The name of their company isn't just marcomm hype: they really are doing great work in partnership with Internet Archive.

This week's books below, and you can see previous round-ups month by month here: May - June - July - August - September. Happy Weekend, everybody!

African Folktales at Internet Archive: Week 17

I'm really glad I took this week to focus on some reference books. They are not "story collections" in the same way that the other books are, but they are still filled with stories in their own ways. So, here's this week's round-up, and here are the past round-ups: May - June - July - August - September.

African Folktales at Internet Archive: Week 16

The focus this week was stories from southern Africa, including both recent children's books along with some anthropological classics. This week's books are all listed below, and here are the past round-ups: May - June - July - August.

Thanks to a suggestion from @MythicAfricans at Twitter (a must-follow account for African stories!), the focus next week will be some good African folklore reference books that are available at Internet Archive.

Meanwhile, here are this week's books:
