African Folktales at Internet Archive: Week 28

I hope everybody is doing well as we near the end of this month of November! I carried on with this month's project of focusing on public domain resources and also more contemporary books inspired by those resources; you can see the books from this past week all listed below. This was Week 28 (!), and you can see all the round-ups from past weeks using these links month by month: May - June - July - August - September - October - November.

I also updated the spreadsheet of story links! There are now over 5000 links there in over 170 books, all leading to the Internet Archive: everything just a click away, thanks to the power of Controlled Digital Lending. More about the spreadsheet here.

African Folktales at Internet Archive: Week 27

This was an exciting week for me: as part of this public domain focus in November, I learned how to make my own PDF-book, remixing pages from PDFs at the Internet Archive to create a customized PDF anthology; for this week, I made an anthology of all the African folktales in the Andrew Lang Fairy Books. That is just the first of what I hope will be a lot of public domain anthologies to come. Meanwhile, you can find all the books from Week 27 (!) below, and here are the links to round-up posts from previous months: May - June - July - August - September - October - November.

I'll be back tomorrow to start the final week of this public domain adventure in November!

African Folktales at Internet Archive: Week 26

I'm now about half-way through my public domain project for the month of November, and this week I featured stories in the public domain from Nigeria, Liberia, and Cameroon: these public domain sources don't have fancy covers, but they are FULL of stories: in this week's public domain books, there are over 250 stories dating back to the late 19th and early 20th century. You'll find the round-up for the week below, and you can see previous round-ups month by month with these links: May - June - July - August - September - October - November.

As part of this public project, I'm also creating links story by story, so for each of the books below, you'll see a table of contents in the post that gives you one-click access to the story at Internet Archive. That means you can browse through the story titles for each book, and when you see something that intrigues you, you can just click-and-read. Since these stories are public domain, no log-in is required; the books are always available to everyone!

African Folktales at Internet Archive: Week 25

It's time for the Week 25 round-up already, and for the month of November, I'm focusing on public domain books in conjunction with an African folktale anthology that I'm preparing as a #NaNoWriMo project (I'm not a novelist, but I love the synergy of participating in National Novel Writing Month). You can see how that project is going here: PublicDomain.LauraGibbs.net

Meanwhile, here's the round-up for last week, and you can see the round-ups for prior months with these links: May - June - July - August - September - October.

And here are last week's books... which includes a book I just published and which of course I also deposited at Internet Archive! :-)
